Dartmoor Cycling Camp: 27th to 31st May 2016

The Dartmoor Cycling Camp is a fantastic opportunity to discover the breathtaking beauty of Dartmoor National Park whilst building on your cycle fitness and refining your cycling skills. Our expert ride leaders are all local cyclists with an extensive knowledge of the best cycling routes in the area. All our routes are bespoke, created specifically to suit the skills and abilities of each group. They will be challenging but are crafted by our professional cycle coach to ensure that accumilative training stress levels are appropriate for each client. Our aim is to ensure you leave us having completed a productive weeks training - not totally fatigued!

The Dartmoor Cycling Camp has been specifically designed with the Sportive cycling enthusiast in mind. Our training schedule adopts a holistic approach, with structured training rides, skills sessions & seminars covering the complete range of subjects essential to sportive & endurance based cycling. We will work with you to help develop your cycling fitness and refine your cycling and bike handling knowledge and skills. We may tell you a few Dartmoor Myths but we will also bust a few cycling ones! When you leave the camp you will have acquired the requisite knowledge and skills necessary for you to properly prepare and train for all your cycling events, maximising the opportunity for you to achieve your true potential.

The 2016 Dartmoor Cycling Camp will run from Bellever Youth Hostel, nestled right in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, ensuring that you will be able to explore the North, South, East, and West of Dartmoor. The National Park occupies 365 square miles of Devonshire countryside with miles of quiet roads and stunning views for you to discover.

At Just Events we are passionate about our sport. We pride ourselves in the quality of our promotions and our attention to detail with everything we organise.  Even before you arrive we will be here to support and advise you as you preparare for the camp. On arrival we will assess your current cycle-fitness and you will receive private consultation with our professional cycle coach to discuss your personal training objectives. This will enable us to organise clients into appropriate ability groups, ensuring that everyone gets the best possible training.

Each day we will take you out for a structured training ride, exploring different areas of Dartmoor and the surrounding countryside. Before each ride we will tell you your personal 'training objective(s)'. Your Ride Leader will help you attain these goals whilst you are out enjoying your ride. The distance and intensity of each ride will vary between groups and dependent on fatigue levels within the groups. Some rides will be short but high-intensity whilst others will be longer, lower intensity, endurance based rides. All our rides are fully supported by ride leaders, mechanic, medic, and a recovery vehicle. Energy drinks & snacks will also be supplied for all rides. 

On your return you will receive a recovery drink, and after you have showered and changed you will have a post-ride recovery session, essential to facilitate muscle recovery in preparation for your next day's ride. During this time you will have the opportunity to reflect on what you have learnt and ask any questions you may have. There is also an optional Sports & Remedial Massage service available every day should you require.

We have a resident mechanic and cycle fitter to ensure your bike is correctly set up for you and working properly at all times. There is also a dedicated cycle storage barn where you can clean, maintain and securely store your bike(s) We supply all the tools and kit for you to be able to do this. Our bike mechanic is always on hand to help with any repairs. We carry a small stock of essential items which can be purchased if required.

Each evening, after a 3 course evening meal, we run a series of training seminars, details of which can be viewed under the training schedule.

On the final day of the camp, all groups go out together for a relaxed social ride, and a traditional Dartmoor Cream Tea before course dispersal.
