All clients must pre-register to take part in the Dartmoor Cycling Camp. We will not be able to accept any bookings on the day.

There is an option to complete a Functional Threshold Power Test (FTP Test) at the start of the camp. If you would like to be tested you will need to request this at the time of booking. You will then be notified of your time slot prior to your arrival. We will also brief you about the test procedure so that you can arrive prepared, enabling us to calculate your performance as accurately as possible.

On your arrival you will be welcomed by one of our team and given a guided tour of YHA Dartmoor to help you settle in. You will then have a private consultation with one of our training coaches to establish your Training Goals. You will take your bike(s) along to the secure bike barn & bike maintenance area where one of our mechanics will complete a quick safety check of your bike give you the opportunity to have a quick 'bike fit check-up'.

After our evening meal, the rest of the evening will be yours to settle into your room and relax.

Thursday 28th May 2020

We will begin the day with a good hearty breakfast (Full English, Continental and Cereals available). At at 09:00 hrs we will have a safety & ride etiquette briefing before heading out together for our first ride. Our first ride always begins with a 10 mile course that helps us to establish the ride fitness of our clients. We will then stop for coffee and divide the course into 'Ride Groups'. For the remainder of the Cycling Camp, you will ride with a small group of cyclists that have a similar ability level to yourself. This ensures that everyone gets a fair opportunity to make the most of their time with us.

Each group can expect to be out for approximately 5 to 6 hours including refreshment breaks. The distance of the ride will very between groups. Our Easy Pace group can expect to cycle between 30 and 50 miles. The Moderate Pace group will cycle around 40 and 60 miles and the Difficult Pace group will cycle between 50 and 70 miles. Each group will have a local ride guide and there will be a support van on hand should anyone have any difficulties.

On completion of your ride you will have time to complete any daily maintenance & cleaning of your bike that may be required. You will have time to shower and then we will offer you the opportunity to take part in a post-ride recovery session. SW Health & Wellbeing will be on hand, offering a post-ride massage service (£20 per session).

We will finish the day with a training seminar or skills session before sitting down to our evening meal.

Our team will be staying at YHA Bellever with you and will be available to give you advice and assistance as required.
