DARTMOOR CYCLING CAMP

The pefect training venue for all Sportive cyclists

Dartmoor Cycling Camp: Friday 5th April 2019

All clients must pre-register to take part in the Dartmoor Cycling Camp. We will not be able to accept any bookings on the day. 

There is an option to complete a Functional Threashold Power Test (FTP Test) at the start of the camp. If you would like to be tested you will need to request this at the time of booking. You will then be notified of your time slot and test location prior to your arrival. We will also brief you about the test porceedure so that you can arrive prepared, enabling us to calculate your performace as accuratly as possible.

At 14:00 hrs we will then meet together as a group at the Beefeater Restaurant, in front of the Premier Inn at Newton Abbot Racecourse (TQ12 3AF). You should arrive in your cycling kit, with your bike, ready to go on the first guided ride. We will have a short welcome and safety brief before setting off for the ride.

Friday's ride will be at an easy pace, giving you chance to meet the ride guides, cycling coach, and the rest of the group. This ride will be approximately 2 hours in duration, finishing back at Newton Abbot Racecourse. 

Post-Ride we will head over to  Bay Cycles in Torquay where proprietors Jez & Lisa will give a presentation on bike fitting, bike safety checks and routing bicycle maintenance. 

Saturday 6th April 2019

We will meet at 09:00 hrs at the entrance to Newton Abbot Racecourse (TQ12 3AF). Clients must be in their cycling kit, with their bike, and ready to start the ride. Clients will be organised into ability based groups, ensuring everyone will be cycling with a small group that share a similar level of ride fitness.

Each group can expect to be out for approximately 5 to 6 hours including refreshment breaks. The distance of the ride will very between groups. Our Easy Pace group can expect to cycle between 30 and 50 miles. The Moderate Pace group will cycle around 40 and 60 miles and the Difficult Pace group will cycle between 50 and 70 miles. Each group will have a local ride guide and there will be a support van on hand should anyone have any difficulties.

All groups will meet up at Cafe 3 Sixty in Bovey Tracey for a coffee and an inspirational talk by local cyclist Russ Middleton. 

SW Health & Wellbeing will be at Cafe 3 Sixty offering a post-ride massage service (£20 per session).

We willl the have a steady group ride back to Newton Abbot Racecourse to finish the day. We aim to be back at Newton Abbot Racecourse by 18:00 hrs. 

Sunday 7th April 2019

We will meet at 09:00 hrs at the entrance to Newton Abbot Racecourse (TQ12 3AF). Clients must be in their cycling kit, with their bike, and ready to start the ride. Clients will be organised into ability based groups, ensuring everyone will be cycling with a small group that share a similar level of ride fitness.

Stephen will talk to us about injury prevention and the importance of Core Strength & Flixibility for cyclists. There will also be the option to have a post-ride massage (£20 per session).

We willl the have a steady group ride back to Newton Abbot Racecourse to finish the day. We aim to be back at Newton Abbot Racecourse by 18:00 hrs. 

Monday 8th April 2019

We will meet at 09:00 hrs at the entrance to Newton Abbot Racecourse (TQ12 3AF). Clients must be in their cycling kit, with their bike, and ready to start the ride. Clients will be organised into ability based groups, ensuring everyone will be cycling with a small group that share a similar level of ride fitness.

Tuesday 9th April 2019

We will meet at 09:00 hrs at the entrance to Newton Abbot Racecourse (TQ12 3AF). Clients must be in their cycling kit, with their bike, and ready to start the ride. Clients will be organised into ability based groups, ensuring everyone will be cycling with a small group that share a similar level of ride fitness. The Tuesday group rides will be approximately 2 hours in duration.

All groups will meet up for a tranditional Devonshire Cream Tea before a gentle ride back together to Newton Abbot Racecourse to finish. We aim to be back at Newton Abbot Racecourse by 13:00 hrs ensuring those who are travelling and plenty of time to get home.
